George has worked in the Outdoors for most of his life; initially as a mountain leader in adventure activities companies and as an instructor at his local mountaineering club. He is a technical adviser for the Greek Mountaineering and Climbing Federation since 1998 and he has the responsibility for mountaineering training and qualifications in Greece.

He has written many articles on mountaineering and published a two volume technical guidebook called “The Art of Mountaineering”, furthermore has written the technical guidebook “Mountain Hiking: handbook for mountain leaders”, the handbook “Mountaineering –  introduction to hiking climbing ski mountaineering ” and the guidebook “Alpine climbs on the Greek mountains” He has contributed to a guidebook for the mountains of central Greece, published by “Anavasis”.

Areas of particular expertise include: mountaineering (summer, winter, alpine, expeditions, high altitude), rock climbing (single and multi-pitch), caving, hiking, outdoor management, mountaineering qualifications (training and assessment courses), care and supervision.

He has a degree in Political Science from Athens University and a master degree from St Andrews University, Scotland.
