Advanced Techniques & Emergency Response
Are you familiar with single-pitch sport climbing, or a graduate of an H.F.M.C. (E.O.O.A.) Beginners’ School looking to take the next step?
This specialized seminar is designed for climbers who want to enhance their technical knowledge and train in the safe management of unpredictable situations on the rock. The course emphasizes hands-on practice and real-life simulations, aiming to build confidence and composure even in the most demanding moments.
Participation Prerequisites
Participants must be autonomous in single-pitch rock climbing. Specifically, you should be able to:
* Tie into the rope independently.
* Belay a lead climber using devices such as a Grigri or Reverso.
* Clip the rope correctly.
* Manage open or closed-type anchors (rele).
* Lower off using a “tubular” belay device.
Knowledge of the following is desirable but not mandatory:* Rappelling (abseiling) and basic knots (Clove hitch, Girth hitch, French Prusik, Fisherman’s knot, Munter hitch/Mule knot).
Course content
The workshop is divided into two main sections:
- Knots & Equipment: Teaching basic knots and their specific applications. Presentation of modern equipment and its uses.
- Self-Rescue Fundamentals: Basic techniques for both the climber and the belayer.
Required Personal Equipment
Harness and Helmet.
Climbing shoes.
Belay device.
6 Quickdraws.
3 Sewn slings (60 cm).
2 Accessory cords (60 cm, 5–6 mm).
3 Locking carabiners.
Personal items: Food and water for the day, windproof/waterproof jacket, pocket knife, headlamp, and a 30–50 liter backpack.
Dates: September 5–6, 2026
Duration: 12 hours total.
Participants: 4 – 12 people.
Location: Attica.
Cost: €150 + VAT (Transportation costs are covered by the participants).
