Antonis Skevofylakas

INSTRUCTOR and coach

Antonis is a graduate of the Mountaineering Assistant Instructors School and the Rock Climbing Instructors School of the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing (HFMC). He has also completed specialized training at the School of Coaches and Route Setters for Competitive Climbing.

He has been systematically involved in climbing instruction since 1998, teaching climbers of all levels—from beginners to competitive athletes and future assistant instructors. With more than 35 years of personal climbing experience, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Greek climbing. His climbing activity includes numerous ascents on some of the country’s most demanding cliffs, as well as several first ascents and early repeats of high-difficulty routes.

Antonis remains actively involved in route development, opening new routes and crags across Greece, with particular focus on Attica. He has also played a key role in the development of bouldering areas in Attica, Ikaria, and Tinos.

From 2013 to 2025, he served as Director of RockWay Climbing Gym, where he organized numerous national and Balkan climbing competitions, contributing significantly to the growth and promotion of competitive climbing in Greece.

His educational philosophy is founded on a balanced approach to safety, technical proficiency, and the personal empowerment of the climber. He views climbing as a tool for self-awareness and personal development, rooted in respect for both the natural environment and the human element.
